This past weekend I went to Atlanta, Georgia and ran a 5K offroad obstacle race in the mud and rain  with zombies! Sadly I died as zombies ripped into the last of my 3 life flags when I faceplanted in the mud. I had a blast!

Plus live entertainment and I met Irone Singleton from "The Walking Dead" show that runs on AMC.

Go to RunForYourLives.com for details and sign up to do it when it comes close to your area.
Highly recommended if you want to have a fun weekend. Pictures are pending.

Combaticons.
Generations toyline.
May/June.
Be there.

Details and pics of all 5 'Fall of Cybertron' Combaticon toys and their combined form of Bruticus are at tformers.com among other sites I'm sure. I am so excited. Gotta get them. Also FOC Jazz, Prime and Shockwave to be released in the Generations line. Love the WFC/FOC Shockwave design, plus in all my years of TF collecting I have never had any version of Shockwave other than the little purple rubber 'decoy' version of him from the 80's. If that counts.....;)

The Theme for the IDW Publishing/Cybertron's Core monthly Writing Comp is:
February- "My Brother Standing Beside Me."

In Sparta the shield you carried was not for you, but for the brother that stood beside you, and his shield for his brother and so on. It's a common belief that while a soldier holds his country in the highest honor and respect he does not fight for the country, but the brother fighting beside him.

Throughout history bonds deeper, and more intense than anyone could comprehend have been forged between warriors who haven't even known each other's names, and never had the chance to learn. Illustrate such a bond between beings, whether they've known each other for their whole lifetimes, have just met, or only heard of each other in passing.

Show me the bonds of brotherhood forged by fire.

Well this year's assortment of BotCon figures sucks. Sorry, but I dont care for not a one of them and their gawdy colors. :(

However, there is hope for next time. This year of new TFPrime figures more than likely means repaints of that series' characters next year. That I can look forward to. :D

And the TF Prime figures are $2 less than they are at Toys R Us

Also remember The TF Prime: Darkness Rising DVD came out this week
$9.99 at Target

Season One of TFP comes out March 6, 2012.
No pricing that I have seen yet.

----------

I can easily recommend TFP Arcee and Starscream as figures to buy if you see them.
And I was hesitant because motorbikes have never been a transformer strong suit.

These are Deluxe figures but they are small. However the detailing is impressive and their complexity too, but seemingly no danger of parts snapping off later. Flawless paint applications and the plastic seems a higher quality than typical too. It really elevates these figures IMO.

I bought a new Bumblebee today. [link]
There is this Leader class Battle Ops Bumblebee with lights and sounds, cannons galore and it is pretty large, that has been in stores in what has become Standard Yellow Bumblebee Plastic (SYBP) that is like $60.00 over here in the USA.

Well I saw it this morning at Marshall's, that is a discount clothing store, but for whatever reason gets TFs sometimes at crazy low prices. Except this one was different. Instead of SYBP, it is all metallic gold paint apps, chrome on the wheels, and rubber tires! It also came with 2 Legends class figures for Bonus and was $34.99!!

I had never seen this gold version. Even the packaging showed it in the SYBP, but had a tidbit about "Limited Edition Metallic Accents". [link]

WOW! This is what a leader class figure should look like. Detailed, articulated and chrome and rubber. It's the little things.
I have ROTF Leader class Optimus Prime and although a marvel of engineering, has very few paint apps, none on the front of the truck just gray plastic where silver paint or chrome would have made it shine and plastic tires.

Also they had Leader Class Movie Starscream that changes into the F-22 and instead of the regular $50 was 24.99. I got him too.

Kinda stupid probably considering that I just had the worst sales month that I have had in about 2 years. Nissan's October sales are up 22% over the same month last year and 17% for the year overall.
Somehow I failed to capture my fair share.

This November the Theme for the Cybertron's Core monthly Wrting Comp is:
War's End
When war is all you know, what do you do when it's over? Some of the Transformers led regular civilian lives before war broke out, others came online sometime in the middle so they have known nothing else.
How will they cope? Can they return to a 'normal' life or will they succumb to the deafening silence of peace and find other 'unhealthy' outlets for their habits and feelings from a life of struggle?

Any continuity is open for example-The Great War/Unicron Battles/Beast Wars/etc. from the point of view of any character.

Is anyone else annoyed by the Masterpiece line of Transformers figures? I mean they're basically a yearly event, and it's become as much a repaint line as any other. I mean another Optimus for MP-10? Yes, there are some cool design features and the trailer is nice but another Optimus? He's become as redundant as the Bumblebee variants in the live-action movie toy lines.

I understand the notion of emphasizing core characters but good lord! Has anyone told Hasbro or Takara that there are more than 4? Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron and Starscream have been done to death. Another Starscream for MP-11? Really?

After MP Hot Rodimus, or whatever you prefer to call him, I was hoping for a 1986 movie-accurate Galvatron. Or a Masterpiece triple changer would be a great hit I would think. Astrotrain or Blitzwing anyone? Masterpiece Soundwave with a couple MP tapes like Laserbeak and/or Ravage? Who cares if he's a tape deck? That's the version everyone remembers and likes about that character. The comics have had no problem depicting him as a tape player.

How about a decent Unicron? They're still trying to pawn off that sorry Armada version half-sphere monstrosity.

On another note the character designs for many of the 'Fall of Cybertron' characters rock! But we wil never see them in toy form unfortunately. They only did 5 for 'War for Cybertron'. Can you guess which characters? Yep, Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee with a repaint of Cliffjumper and a nice Soundwave thrown in.

My Netflix queue is getting thin. Do you have any recommendations?
They can be dramas, comedies, sci-fi, horror, foreign or maybe something that was just overlooked by most but turned out to be good. I'm pretty open. They can be new, they can be old. I finally watched the 1969 'Lawrence of Arabia' the other day for the first time. Then I saw 'Kick-Ass'. I enjoyed it actually. Saw a trailer for 'Super' the other day, looks simlar to 'Kick-Ass', but it doesn't look so good. But I will still have to see it because I adore Ellen Page.

I just bought [Rec] and [Rec]2 the other day. Now I am anxious for parts 3(Genesis) and 4(Apocalypse).

RE: Faith in humanity restored.

As an automobile salesman I am subjected to the worst side of humanity. I am often disrespected, insulted or otherwise regarded as an unnecessary evil. A relic even. However, we are regular people with mortgages, bills, kids and pets. One develops a thick skin in this business. Unfortunately a side effect of dealing with the public can leave one with a disdain for people in general. Then I retreat here to the Net where there are other artists, writers and photographers. Some professional, some wanting to be. It's a community I can better relate to.

I explore many people's galleries here. I leave comments on every pic I fav and often comment even if I dont fav just to give feedback as I would want for myself whenI post something. I restrain myself a bit because I dont want too much of my, shall we say, idiosyncrasies ;) to put people off. If you look through my own gallery and my favs you will see what appeals to me.

I write and draw sci-fi and aspire to photography.

So imagine my surprise after a particularly rough week to find someone on here did me a huge favor. I found ~MarkVPPhoto just a couple weeks ago and quickly became a fan. I like his style and am admittedly smitten with one of the models he works with. Airica appears to make photography look effortless. I'm sure alot of work goes into the photo sessions but this team make it look easy and refreshing. I left a comment one day asking if Mark had a particular photo from a shoot he simply maybe had not posted. He said not, but that next photo shoot he would get one in for me. And he did!
Totally made my day.

From the East coast in Florida I extend many thanks to you Mark over on the West coast. Thank you, kind sir, and please pass my gratitude along to Airica as well.
I think I will have to buy a print of this indeed!

Involuntary Somersaults

Sun Jun 13, 2010, 1:07 PM
SUNDAY June 13,2010
Today is Sunday and it began much like any other, except I forgot to shave. I left for work on my regular 5.3 mile commute (I'll let you metric people figure out for yourselves how far that is in Kilometers) approximately 11:45AM. With music by Basil Poledouris blasting my ears from the "Starship Troopers" soundtrack I was happily driving along and catching greenlights right regular. As I approached an intersection I took note of the green light, the silver Altima in front me, and 2 bicyclists on the center median waiting for traffic to pass so they could walk their bikes across. OK all is good we're going through.

Then one of the bicyclists starts running their bike across the 3 lanes of traffic!
I track her and take note of the Altima in front of me and realize 2 things:

1. This is really happening.
2. There is not enough time or space for the bike and the car in front of me to have two separate paths.

The Altima slams on its brakes, white smoke filling the air and that distinctive screeching sound of rubber on asphalt pierces my ears over Basil's percussions.

BAM!!!

The bicyclist had reached the starboard side of the Altima before impact and I saw the bike and the woman both do wildly erratic somersaults in the air, flying off to the right. The Altima continued skidding until it halted in the center lane just past the intersection. Ah, the smell of burnt rubber.

The whole slow-motion thing didn't happen. Nor did my heart even skip one beat. I simply concluded that I need to pull off to the side and call 911 to report the accident immediately. So I did. Other cars stopped and came to the aid of the biker. Although scraped up pretty bad on the face and knees, she was conscious and talking.

Police cars, a fire truck and ambulance showed up within about 3 minutes. I raised my hand when the officer asked for witnesses and gave him my information. I tried to make it as clear as I could that the Altima could no nothing to avoid hitting the pedestrian and pointed out the 100 feet or so of skid marks clearly left on the pavement. He said the pedestrian was lucky that the car had slowed as much as it did as typically these scenes are much worse and there's usually not much you can do other than "scrape up the pieces with a shovel". Harsh words but no doubt true as I am sure he has seen much more than I have of this type of incident.

I saw at this time that the Altima had pulled to the side of the road and the driver, a woman about 60 years old, was escorted to a bench and comforted by others. She was very upset and crying. I sat with her also and gave her my card with my contact information so if she needed anything or her insurance had questions I would be available. I doubt there's much I could do but I offered it anyways.

My civic duty done, I got back in my own car and drove cautiously to work. That was my adventure for the day. How was yours?

UPDATE:
MONDAY June 14,2010
At 10:39AM on Monday I was "officially" phone interviewed by "June" about the accident by an insurance company, who I will not name but it rhymes with State Farm.

TUESDAY June 15,2010
At 11:25AM I was interviewed very briefly by "Trooper Green" about the accident.
